Ways to Relieve Allergies Naturally

Allergies are your immune system’s way of telling you that there are substances in your body which can be detrimental to your physical well being. As a result, your body releases antibodies in an effort to eliminate the substances it feels are harmful to you. This is what causes allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, swelling in your nose or throat, burning of the ears, runny nose, or other types of symptoms.

Understanding what causes allergies is the first step toward providing yourself with relief from the symptoms. Most people associate allergies with hay fever, pollen, and dust when in reality there are many factors that can cause allergies. Some of these factors include the foods you eat, exposure to certain chemicals, ingredients in products you use for personal hygiene, products you wash your clothes with, bee stings, and much more. Pinpointing the cause of allergies can be tricky however here are a few ways that you can try to relieve allergies naturally and affordably:

1Eliminate Certain Foods

Many allergies are triggered by the foods you eat and strangely enough this is one of the last things people consider when they are experiencing allergy symptoms. Certain foods can cause allergic reactions, cause you to be disoriented, exhibit flu-like symptoms, and even death if you are severely allergic. Food allergies are taken much more seriously today than several decades ago.

Food allergies can begin at birth or they can develop at any point during your life. If you think food may be contributing to your allergies you can get natural allergy relief by gradually eliminating foods from your diet. Take away one type of food you eat at a time and then pay attention to how you feel. If you still feel allergy symptoms put the food back in your diet and eliminate another one. Keep doing this until you discover which foods are causing you problems.

If you are eating a lot of processed foods, eliminate those altogether because they contain ingredients that cause allergies and instead eat fresh produce. Also, eliminate dairy foods for a week or more and then pay attention to how you feel. Once you find the answer, you will find that you can focus better and your allergy symptoms will dissipate naturally.

2Increase Vitamin C

It has long been known that Vitamin C enhances your immune system. Increase your intake of Vitamin C by eating more citrus fruits and taking Vitamin C supplements. This is a natural and affordable way to give your immune system the boost it needs to guard against allergies.

3Use Natural Remedies for Allergies

If you do your research online you can find a host of natural remedies for relieving the symptoms of allergies, many of which contain inexpensive ingredients. There are a lot of these types of remedies which are too many to mention; however, here are a few to help you get pointed in the right direction.

  • Stinging Nettles: Stinging nettles are an herbal flowering plant with a long medicinal history and are rich in vitamin A, C, potassium, and iron. When you boil stinging nettles it soaks in all of the healing ingredients and then you can drink it a few times a day to relieve the symptoms of allergies.
  •

  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is very inexpensive and if you take a dose of it on a daily basis it is very effective in relieving allergy symptoms. Simply mix it in with a glass of water and drink on a daily basis. If you can get past the taste it is a very effective natural remedy.

Also, if you are using supplements to relieve allergies, you can use apple cider vinegar to ensure your body is absorbing the supplements. Simply drop one of the supplement tablets into a glass of apple cider vinegar and if the tablet dissolves within ten minutes your supplements will be absorbed by your body. If the tablet does not dissolve the supplements you bought are old and will simply pass through your body without being absorbed.
  •

  • Ginger Tea: If one of your allergy symptoms is difficulty with breathing drinking ginger tea can help to provide relief. Ginger is a natural remedy for improving blood circulation which can provide relief for breathing problems.

4Eat Foods That Enhance Your Immune System

There are certain foods that are beneficial in boosting your immune system which you can rotate on a daily basis since there is no one food that does it all. Some of these foods include leafy green vegetables, cauliflower, garlic, orange vegetables, blueberries, acai berry, and broccoli. Also, foods such as salmon and tuna as well as oats and mushrooms are beneficial in boosting your immune system.

5Use a Neti Pot

Many allergy sufferers use a neti pot to flush their nasal passages and keep the nasal canal free of mucous that builds up from allergy symptoms. Neti is used in Ayurveda practice and involves using saline water placed in a pot to irrigate the nasal passages and keep them free of toxins, dust, and other pollutants. The spout of the pot is inserted into one nostril allowing the solution to flow out of the other nostril and can be performed within a few minutes.

6Drink Water

70 percent of your body consists of water and although telling someone to drink lots of water seems like a “no brainer” there are a lot of people who forget to drink water everyday so drinking water needs to be mentioned when it comes to relieving allergy symptoms. If you forget to drink water, start leaving bottles of water around where you see them as a reminder to get six to eight glasses of water every day. Water flushes all of the toxins out of your body which contribute to allergies and allergy symptoms. Water is natural, inexpensive, and important to your overall physical well being.
