The level of unemployment is rising, even in the  strongest economies. This has made it imperative for job seekers to seek out the most effective tools at their disposal to enable them find work.

The current situation demands that job seekers make use of as many resources as possible to increase their chances of securing employment, including using social networks or posting their resumes online.
However, one resource that should be at the top of any list involves making searches on the various available job websites – here are some of the best of them:

1Monster.com

Monster is a job website that can be used to search for employment opportunities in markets all over the world. This is currently the biggest job search website on the internet and just about every community around the world can make use of it. Monster features an “International Search” with which job seekers can gain access to volumes of job positions globally. The site also has a “home page” where you can post your resume free of charge, as well as a couple of “career tools” that you can use to make the research process of your job hunting easier.

2Job.com

This website is more or less similar to Monster in that it also offers job seekers the ability to seek out international employment positions. Job.com has an “Additional Search Options” feature which can be used to search for jobs in particular regions of the world e.g. the United Kingdom or the United States. On this site there are in excess of 700,000 listings which can all be described as being fairly current. Job seekers can also have their resumes published on the site so that prospective employers can view them.

3Yahoo! Hotjobs

Arguably, Monster’s greatest competitor, Yahoo! Hotjobs is well known for providing excellent content and jobseekers who use it can attest to this. This website retains the same characteristics of other Yahoo! pages and within it are a plethora of articles as well as plenty of widgets from tools , including Yahoo Answers. In addition to all of these extra components, Yahoo! Hotjobs boasts a very efficient search engine that features thousands of job listings from across the globe.

4Net-Temps

Although Net-Temps is primarily designed to cater for temporary employees in search of the next available job, it really isn’t too different from any of the other job search sites. This is of course with the exception that jobseekers can break down their searches into either temporary work or full-time work. This feature is of particular convenience to freelance workers who are self-employed. They can opt to take temporary jobs as these will enable them to secure short term contract positions as allowed by their personal schedules.

5Indeed.com

Indeed.com is more than a normal job search website – it is a mega-search engine that spares you the work of going through multiple search websites. It also spares employers the task of listing jobs in multiple sites because it conveniently details job search results from websites like CareerBuilder and Hotjobs as well as from various individual employer sites.

6CareerBuilder.com

There’s really not much to contest about the fact that CareerBuilder.com ranks up there with the top job search sites including Monster and Hotjobs. On this website are attractive features including a resume posting section, job searches by industry or company, and a ’job alerts’ section. There really isn’t much that distinguishes this website from the others in its league, but it is often the case that on it you may find listings that are not available on any of the others. It is therefore worth visiting very other time.

7AllJobSearch.com

Just like Indeed.com this website has gained lots of popularity because it has the ability to pull job searches from multiple sources. Alljobsearch.com extends its coverage to the US, Canada and the UK, and it impressively presents results from over 200 websites. It also includes 500 and 300 newspapers and newsgroups respectively. Job seekers are presented with a set of links to external sources, including other job sites and online newspapers, and upon clicking these links Alljobsearch.com proceeds to search a particular engine using the job search terms you had provided. The site does a fine job of finding many online job sources in a short time.

8SimplyHired.com

This website stands out from the rest of the sites on the internet because it has a unique “tools” section. Here you will find a host of very attractive widgets including trend research, email alerts, and salary information, with the latter having been categorized according to occupation and location. This is by all means a job search site that can be of much use to persons yet to decide what choice of career they would want to pursue.

9USA.gov

This website is actually a mammoth database of online jobs that is run by the US Federal government. On this website you can search for job opportunities under virtually any industry or sector that you would like to pursue. It not only provide nationwide jobs but it also lists worldwide positions and goes further to indicate the actual salaries offered for them.

10Dice.com

This website is only useful for persons who are seeking technology related job positions. Here you will find niche spaces that will help you find the exact positions you are looking for in the technology industry.
