Budget-Friendly Travel Tips

There is no doubt that it can be an incredibly expensive and budget-busting experience to plan and take a vacation; in the current global economy, the need to stick to a budget is more important than ever. Whether you plan on traveling alone, with a partner, or with your entire family, it is a lot easier than you may imagine to find budget-friendly places to stay while traveling – even while traveling overseas!

1When Looking to Travel Cheap, Use All Available Resources

When you are starting out with the process of planning your budget-friendly vacation it is important that you take the time to use every resource available to you in order to compile a list of cheap accommodation options.

  • Look to Friends, Family, & Co-Workers for Cheaper Accommodation Ideas

The people within your social, and even professional, circles can oftentimes be amongst the best sources for information related to finding a budget-friendly place to stay. Take the time to mention your budget-friendly vacation planning project to your family, your friends, and those co-workers with whom you have a solid work-friendship. The people within your social circles are likely to have a good idea as to the types of places that would appeal to you and your budget, making them an excellent source of information. You may just find yourself with a long list of accommodations at a price that fits your budget perfectly. Or - better yet - an invite to stay for free at someone's vacation home!

  • Check out Travel Blogs for Traveling on a Budget Tips

To help you find additional budget-minded traveling individuals you should consider seeking out travel blogs that have a focus on the region that you plan on visiting. You may run across a travel blog hosted by a traveler on a budget or even by the owner of a budget-friendly establishment.

  • Read Travel Forums to Find Recommendations for Cheaper Accommodations

Somewhat related to seeking out travel blogs, travel forums can provide you with access to a wider range of globe-trotting adventurers. From student backpackers to simply budget-minded travelers like you, travel forums are an excellent place to seek out guidance and recommendations for cheaper accommodations.

  • Use Travel Agents & Travel Booking Websites to Help You Plan an Inexpensive Vacation

Although it seems like the majority of travelers use travel booking websites to seek out accommodations for a tight budget, a traditional travel agent may be a great source of information. Not only to help to provide you with budget-friendly recommendations, but also to help provide you with a personal point of view as they may have spent a night or two in the establishment that they are recommending. However, if you prefer to do the bulk of your research on your own, then you are certain to find a whole host of recommendations for inexpensive vacations on any of the major travel booking websites. These websites often allow users to leave comments and ratings of each hotel or guesthouse; this useful feature can help you to differentiate between accommodations that are affordable and comfortable and those that are just simply cheap and dingy!

2Choosing Low-Cost Lodging that Best Suits Your Needs

Once you have compiled your list of potential budget-friendly accommodations in all of your planned destinations you can start the process of narrowing your choices down to find the best place that will meet all of your requirements by determining your needs.

  • Are you traveling alone?
  • Will you be traveling with a friend, spouse, and children?

By determining the number of people who will require accommodation you will be able to determine the type of place that best suits your needs.

  • Single Travel on a Budget

If you are a single traveler then you may not require the privacy a couple is oft to prefer when traveling. Consider looking into youth or group hostels in all of your intended destinations; they will not only be able to provide you with a cheap and clean place to stay, but a hostel is an excellent place to get travel tips from seasoned travelers, meet new people, and find out information related to the area. Most hostels have a website so a search for hostels in your designated travel spot should yield the results that you are looking for.

  • Budget Travel for a Romantic Get-Away

Perhaps you are seeking out a more exotic yet inexpensive romantic get-away spot so that you and your partner can reconnect and remind yourselves of what it was that first made you fall in love! In the off-season, many all-inclusive resorts offer phenomenally reduced rates in order to encourage visitors during the seasons that may perhaps be somewhat closer. Look for resorts located in your planned vacation hot-spot and check out their websites for any specials that they may be running. You may be better served by giving them a call or emailing them as even the most techno-savvy hotel is not always able to regularly update their website with current specials.

A bed and breakfast is often synonymous with romance and a magical retreat from the often sterile environment of a hotel. If you and your significant other are planning a romantic weekend away, just the two of you, the majority of bed and breakfast establishments offer reasonably-priced packages.

  • Family Fun Trips on a Budget

For a budget-friendly option that will allow every member of your family to let loose, relax, and have a smashing vacation, there are several options available to you. From a family-friendly hotel resort to renting a house or villa near a theme park or near the ocean. A bed and breakfast can prove to be more than a romantic couple’s retreat; it can also prove to be an excellent choice for a family who is seeking affordable accommodations. If your family is the only family residing in the bed and breakfast then you may not need to constantly remind your children to be quiet. So long as the bed and breakfast owners agree, then your kids can be kids and play and have as much fun as they like; in most hotel environments your children will have to be on their best silent behavior in order to avoid disrupting other guests. Renting a house or villa for one or two weeks can provide you with more than a more affordable family-friendly place to stay; it can allow every member of your family to enjoy their vacation. For homes that are available in the Orlando area, close to several theme parks, most have a swimming pool, hot tub, and other private amenities that would not be private if you stayed in one of the more costly hotels. The ability to make use of the full kitchen will also allow you to save on the cost of meals!

Another budget-friendly option for your family vacation is a camping trip. Camping can be a lot of fun for a family trip - especially for a family with high-energy children. Your expenses can be kept low by renting your camping equipment; a rented tent or a rented RV is a great way to keep your vacation budget-friendly while not roughing it too much! The great outdoors is wonderful for exhausting high-energy children, but an air-conditioned RV can be bliss for parents who need to escape mosquitoes and high overnight temperatures!

No matter what you are looking for in your budget-friendly place to stay, no matter where you are looking for your budget-friendly accommodations, with a bit of careful research you will be able to find the ideal get-away spot to fit your lifestyle!
