When you see someone who appears to be living the lifestyle of their dreams, you tend to think they were either born into it or they just got lucky. In most cases none of those perceptions are realistic and many people who have achieved their dreams had to do a lot of work to get there.
First, it is important to note that everyone wants to live their dreams but actually making it happen is a much different story. First, it takes belief in yourself and what you want coupled with a plan for what you want out of your life. Second, you must have no question in your mind that you can achieve it with specific steps that will lead you to success. Here are a few tips to help you get started with planning the lifestyle of your dreams:
1Take Personal Inventory
You cannot possibly organize a plan if you do not know what you want out of your life. Set aside time to take personal inventory of your life as it is now and as you envision it in the future. What do you want? What do you picture the perfect day to be like? What do you want to achieve? Who are you? What is your purpose in life? And so on.
Write down the answers to some or all of these questions and then compare them to how much they fit into your life as you are living it now. If you are reading this article then chances are you are dissatisfied with your life and looking to make a change so the answers to these questions likely will not fit in with your current lifestyle. The road ahead must be designed to fit the answers to some of these questions.
Perhaps your work does not fit who you are so a career change may be in order. What do you picture the perfect work day to be like? You may be happier working for yourself or you need a career change with a different type of employment. Do your social activities fit in with who you really are or are your “friends” unsupportive? There may be a change in order with regard to whom you are choosing to associate with.
Whatever changes come to light as you are taking personal inventory you must come up with a plan to follow that will ensure you make the necessary changes which will lead you to the lifestyle of your dreams.
2Facing the Fear
One of the primary reasons that ordinary people outnumber highly successful people is the emotion of fear. When you think about making changes in your life you become fearful. Some people even fear success itself because it means they will no longer fit in with their old lifestyle.
The reality is that successful people have fears too. The difference is they learn to accept it as part of the journey and keep forging ahead toward their dreams anyway. What’s more is once you start taking steps and see that everything is okay, you will wonder what you were afraid of in the first place. Fear is very powerful and can keep people stuck in an unhappy lifestyle for their entire life. Do you want this to be you?
3Research Successful People
Once you have an idea of what you need to change the good news is that you do not have to make the change alone. Although you may face resistance from people who want you to stay stuck, you can go out there and find someone you emulate and follow their blueprint to success. And here is a little secret…..the people who have achieved the lifestyle of their dreams got there by hard work but they also followed a blueprint to success that other people used to live the lifestyle of their dreams.
So, your mission is to go online or find someone in the area where you live who has achieved dreams that are similar to yours and then pick their brain. If you search online there are many successful people who will be happy to share their blueprint to success with you.
Once you research successful people and check their background for authenticity you can settle on one blueprint for success and then come up with a plan for following it. If you have trouble staying on track, consider hiring a mentor so you have someone to answer to as you achieve each step. A mentor who has already been down the path can help you to avoid mistakes and pitfalls along the way. Perhaps the person whose blueprint you are following offers mentoring as an option.
4Surround Yourself with Success
Going for your dreams takes courage so if your lifestyle has included “friends” who do not support you, unfortunately it may require you to pull away and start networking in a circle of successful people. If you hang around naysayers over a period of time this can affect your mental outlook on things and slow down the process of achieving your goals and objectives. Instead stick around people who will support you in your journey and understand what you are trying to do.
5You Cannot Fail If...
You will not fail if you come up with a specific plan and stick with it. Successful people have achieved their dreams because they persevered and did not quit as soon as the going got tough. It’s that simple. The people who are not living the lifestyle of their dreams are the ones that are simply sitting there wishing they could live their dreams instead of taking action or, they tried and then quit when they hit rough road. There is no way you can fail if each step in your plan has a purpose; you stay consistent; and follow a proven blueprint for success. You only have one chance so why not make it count?
