Creating iPhone Apps

The iPhone is a gadget which is capable of performing very many tasks. The tasks that can be performed are related to the applications that an iPhone user has installed on his/her phone. There are numerous iPhone applications that have been developed since the first iPhone landed in the market. Apple has created several of the applications but the others have been developed by independent individuals.

This has in turn led people to create iPhone applications as a means of making money. New and improved applications are finding their way into the market at different costs depending on the significance of the application to the phone user.

1How Do You Create an iPhone Application and How Do You Make Money from It?

To create an iPhone application, you need to have a good idea of what the iPhone lacks and how your idealized application will enable the phone to be of more use to the owner. Apple has a site called App Store, which serves for both the iPhone and iPod touch. On this site there are numerous iPhone applications stored and the phone user can browse and download any application of his/her liking. These applications are developed using the iPhone SDK and they are available either for free or at a cost. Statistics show that numerous applications are downloaded daily meaning there are some people making a lot of money every day courtesy of their applications.

In order to be successful with your application the key point is to create a small, simple application that people will like and use over and over.

After checking the applications available in the App Store and comparing them to your idea for similarities, the next step is to actualize or develop the idea. To do this you need an iPhone SDK specialist. This may cost you about $300 or even less and after it is done, you will have created an iPhone application bound to bring you some good money.

2What Professional Experience Do You Need?

The least experience needed for this venture is knowledge of operating an iPhone and some or all of its applications. Also, basic knowledge of operating a computer - more specifically the internet - can enable one to easily create an iPhone application. One does not necessarily have to have programming knowledge/skills since the applications program will be written in a language compatible with the iPhone, something which will be easily done by the iPhone SDK specialists.

3How Do You Find an Original Idea for an Application?

This can be done by checking out whether your idea is solid, i.e., whether it solves a unique problem, whether it serves a particular interest group or appeals to everyone, whether it fully satisfies the people who will purchase it, or whether it is just an enhancement of an existing application.

You can talk to friends who have am iPhone and find out what applications they would love to have on their phones. Your close friends will tend to tell you the truth and may actually help with the basics of the application they wish for.

Do some market research and look up how other people design their applications and from this you may be able to decipher the good and bad aspects of these applications. This will further enable you to avoid mistakes other people made and to come up with creative solutions in terms of concept and design.

To be more original you need to familiarize yourself with the iPhone itself. You need to understand its capabilities in terms of processing speeds, RAM memory available, memory space for applications, etc. Even more important is the phone’s user interface. This will enable you to know how applications shift from screen to screen and how much information is available to the user within a given screen. It also helps you understand the phone’s unique characteristics such as swiping, rotate and expand features, etc.

4How Do You Sell Your iPhone Application?

The first step is to ensure that the application is worth buying. It is almost impossible to sell something that is not useful to anyone.

The second step is to submit your application to the App Store. It is here that customers will find and purchase your iPhone application. Apple must approve of your application before it starts selling at the App Store. There are also rules and regulations that govern the applications which you need to comply with before any sales can be made.

The other step is to maintain or boost your sales. You should have well-planned strategies on how to promote your application online. The most common method is to submit the application to community sites to get reviews and feedback. This can be done by setting up a fan page with Facebook and/or Twitter.

You can also plan to release multiple features in spaces of say two weeks. These new features will boost sales since people will be eager to have the latest version of an application provided it is good and appealing.
