how to become organized at home

One of the hardest times in your life to be organized is when you have children. Learn some great tips of how to become organized at home.

1How to Become Organized at Home

The biggest problem that you have with keeping your house organized when you have children is that it seems like they have six thousand toys.

Somehow it seems as though every toy is scattered around on the floor… all the time.

Here are some easy tips to teach you how to become organized at home when you have children.

2Toys for the Bathtub

Kids love toys and kids love toys in the bathtub even more. However, you probably don’t love having bathtub toys all over your bathroom. You can handle this problem by using buckets or bags.

If you don’t mind having the toys around all the time, you can keep them in a mesh bag. Get a hook that can suction to the wall so you can hang up the toys when tub time is over.

If you don’t want the toys around all the time, use a plastic bin or bucket to hold them. Make sure that the bottom has holes in it so the water can drain off. Then you can keep it under the sink. They are all in one place, but they are out of sight when they aren’t in the bathtub.

3Toys For Infants

One of the problems with infant toys is that there are just so many of them. New parents love to spoil their new baby and their friends and family all bring toys every time they come to visit too.

The key to learning how to become organized at home is to identify the toys your child likes the best. Find a bag and keep the favorites in the bag. A backpack, fabric bag or even a mash laundry bag will all work.

When your child moves from the playpen, stroller, in the car or even on the floor in the living room, the toys can easily go with them. When your child always has their favorite within easy reach, the rest of the toys can stay in a box or on a shelf (and not on the floor!) You can even rotate the toys that you put in the bag so they always feel like they have something new to play with.

It will be much easier to pick up a couple of toys when you change rooms that it will be at the end of the day to pick up toys that are scattered all over the house.

4Toys For Toddlers

Toys become a bigger issue for toddlers because they are old enough to want to play with specific toys instead of just the ones you give them as an infant. The key to knowing how to become organized at home is to have a toy box that doesn’t have a lid.

This makes it easier to pick up the toys when it’s time to clean up. It will also make it easier for you to teach your child to put their toys away because they can visually see where they are supposed to go.

You might also consider having a toy box in several rooms in the house.

5Children's Closets

Most kids don’t have that many clothes because they grow out of them so fast. This makes the closet a goldmine when it comes to looking for tips on how to be organized in your home.

Hanging organizers are usually the best way to use the closet space because they use space all the way to the floor.

You may want to use the compartments for anything from toys to clothes to school gear.

You may even want to pick out school clothes with your child at the beginning of the week and put one day in each compartment.

Once you decide what goes in each compartment, make a label to help your kids remember what is supposed to go in each space.

6 Summary

The key to how to become organized at home it so develop strategies that will make it easy to keep stuff picked up. Sometimes plans to help you be better organized end up taking more time and effort to actually carry out.

Instead of having specific places for each type of toy to go, try to limit the ones that your kids play with, and have a lot of baskets or boxes available to make them easier to put away.
