Everyone needs to reevaluate their life once in a while and look for ways to get more happiness and satisfaction out of it. This article is the second of a two-part series on how to do just that.
Here are the first five tips.
6Write a Book
This doesn’t have to be as daunting as it sounds. The internet makes it really easy to write and even publish your own e-book.
You can write a book that you intend to market and sell or you can write it just for your friends and family. You can even get tremendous satisfaction in writing a book just for yourself.
You could write a book about your family history or family stories that have been handed down from generation to generation. You could also write a book about one of your hobbies or something you are particularly good at. Are you a gardener or a woodworker? Maybe you’re good at training your dog or organizing your house. Everyone has something that they’re good at, find out what you specialty is and write a book about it.
All you need to do is get started. Then make a commitment to write a couple hundred words each day. In a couple of months, you’ll have a real book.
7Be Creative
Having a way to express yourself is a great way to make a positive impact on your life. See if there are any music classes, pottery workshops or paining lessons in your area.
Adult education classes are a great place to look at the different types of classes that are available.
8Run For Local Office
This is another way to have a positive impact on your life, and it’s not nearly as difficult as you may think. There are many local offices you can run for that only take a few meet-and-greets to get started.
Running for office gives you a chance to really get involved in issues that are important to your community and to meet other people who have similar interests. If you happen to get elected, you will have the satisfaction of helping to manage the details that make things run.
If you want this to have a positive impact on your life, make sure you do it for the right reasons. This isn’t about the power to make decisions. It’s about getting involved in issues that make your community a better place to live.
9Play a Sport
Everyone knows how important it is to exercise. It’s one of the best things you can do for your health and well being.
However, changing HOW you exercise can have a positive effect on your life. Instead of the solitary activity of running on a treadmill with your iPod for an hour every day, switch to participating in a sport for a few of those days.
If you join a softball, tennis or golf league, etc you will still get your exercise, but you will also be interacting and building relationships with other people at the same time.
10Set a Goal That Is Outrageous
Some of the tips listed above are significant changes in your life. However, if you really want to get excited about life, set a huge goal and start working toward achieving it. Think about what it would take to climb a mountain, or record an album or travel to 5 different countries.
Don’t make these tiny goals that are easy to meet, make them huge ones. Then you can start making plans on how you can make it happen and really push yourself to finish them. It won’t be easy, and it won’t happen quickly, but having something to work toward can really have a positive effect on your life.

Those are 10 changes you can make to your life that will help you to be happier. Find one or two that most interests you and get started. Remember though, it’s not about whether you succeed or fail at whatever you attempt.
Usually just making the effort to do something different is enough to enact a positive change for you!
