That the world we are living in today can get pretty dangerous at times is hardly in question. The many people who have been the victims of an attack and survived it know only too well how vicious and lethal ill-intentioned fellow human beings can be. Dead men tell no tales – there are many people who have succumbed to acts of violence meted against them.
In light of these realizations it is only prudent to know what self-defense techniques you can summon when you need to fend off attackers and escape with your life. Learning self-defense techniques does not always have to be done as part of a course – you can learn some simple maneuvers of your own and use them to your advantage.
1Self Defense Moves: Striking with an Open Palm
This simple self-defense technique can be used by both men and women to great effect. All you have to do is to smash your open palm into the face of an attacker being sure to focus the bottom part of the palm on the assailant’s nose. When applied with sufficient, or better yet, maximum force, this technique has the potential to cause a fractured nose. There is no nose too hard to break and no person too strong to ignore the resounding pain. As soon as the assailant yelps in pain and reaches for his/her nose make a dash for safety.
2
Self Defense Moves: Use Your Teeth
This is a natural or instinctive self-defense technique which will take any assailant by surprise just as much as their attack has been surprising to you. In the event that an assailant has grabbed you from behind and his/her hand is near your mouth sink your teeth in and bite so intensely that the pain will force him/her to give you some slight allowance. You can then use any of these self-defense techniques to wrestle your way to safety.
3
Self Defense Moves: Kicking as Hard as Possible
Your legs can prove to be your greatest asset when you are caught up in an attack situation. The bones and muscles in our legs (both men and women) are sufficient to give a really mean kick - whatever part of the body you aim for. The ideal places to kick include the shins, knees, and the groin area, especially for a woman under attack by a man. Whichever of these bull’s-eyes is in closest proximity do not spare some consideration for the assailant; kick as hard as you can and get them adequately immobilized to facilitate your escape.
4
Self Defense Moves: The Choking Technique
When faced with an attack from the front, the choking self-defense technique can be a great supplement to the aforementioned kicking technique. After you get your hands free you can grab the soft part of your assailant’s Adam’s apple with your fingers being focused on the area just below the chin. Clutch at this part as hard as you can and regardless of the person, you are bound to get them choked and helpless. In this state you can add another hard kick for good measure, maybe on the kneecap, and then flee for dear life.
5
Self Defense Moves: Poking the Eyes
This move has proven especially effective even in professional wrestling. Sticking your fingers right inside your assailant’s eyes is a sure way of disabling their vision albeit momentarily. This self-defense technique is especially effective when used by ladies who have long fingernails but men can and should also use this to their advantage. The eyes are very sensitive and the attacker’s first reaction will be to rub his/her eyes using both hands. This momentary opportunity is just what you need to give the attacker a swift and hard kick between the legs and perhaps a lethal uppercut to the jaw as he/she begins to crumble to the ground.
6
Self Defense Moves: The Chop
Apart from using the fists to deliver iron-shod blows, you can use the bottom part of an outstretched palm to deliver a lethal karate-like chop to the neck area of your attacker. With this self-defense technique, you should be looking to hit the Adam’s apple with such force that will force him/her to make several swallowing attempts. This is a very effective dazing technique that will offer you some vital seconds and space to add another stunning and stalling maneuver.
7
Self Defense Moves: Use What is Around You
As soon as you realize that you are under attack you should quickly scan the environment around you with an aim at getting anything that can act like a weapon. A rock or a metal rod...virtually anything can be used to stun an attacker. However, you need to be careful enough to note what the attacker has as a weapon; there is little that you can do against a loaded gun – it may be better off to feign surrender and then surprise the assailant with a cheeky but lethal eye poke.
