You do not have to be a professional writer to write online articles and get paid for it. There are a few content- hungry websites that allow you to earn money by writing for them. You simply have to write and submit an article, then start earning. It is not difficult to make money this way, but it will require a certain amount of hard work and dedication. |

How to Get Started with Submitting Articles
- To make the most from writing articles, it would help if you have a passion for or a general interest in writing.
- Open a PayPal account for free. PayPal is the default payment form for the majority of these open content websites. The money paid into your PayPal account can then be transferred into your bank account or accessed by a debit card.
- You will need to create an account with the websites that you wish to submit content to. It is free to sign up. Open an account with one or multiple sites that you wish to work with. Some of the most commonly used websites are eHow, Associated Content, Neowide, and Helium.

What to Write About
Think about what makes you who you are. What have you worked as? What have you experienced? What are your hobbies? Where have you been? Anything that you have knowledge about can make for enjoyable writing. Otherwise, there may be something that you would like to research and then write about. Either way, there is no shortage of possibilities. |

How You Get paid
The pay structure varies depending on the website that you are submitting content to.
- At Associated Content, for example, you may be offered money up front, (anywhere between $3 and $20), as long as your article is previously unpublished and kept exclusively to them. On top of that, you will receive further money based on page views and popularity. 1000 page views equals about $1.50. Even if you have had your article published on another site, you can still submit it and earn money based on the page viewing and popularity structure, but with no up-front payment.
- eHow does not offer money up front for exclusive articles, but rather pays based on the quality, ad revenue, and popularity of your work over time.
- Other websites will pay on similar structures to the two listed above.

Submitting Articles to eHow
If you are new to writing articles, eHow is a good place to start. The instructional step-by-step format that you are required to write in is easier to follow than on some of the other websites. The article starts with a paragraph intro, and then step-by-step instructions, teaching the reader how to do what you have chosen to write about. At the bottom, you can add tips and warnings. The suggested article length is 400 - 600 words. One drawback with eHow is you are restricted to only writing about how to do something. |

Submitting Articles to Associated Content and Helium

Once you feel comfortable with writing in the step-by-step instructional format, the next step is to begin submitting for sites such as Associated Content and Helium. The format is free flowing, and the articles tend to be longer and more detailed. Here, you are not restricted to instructional writing. You can write about whatever you like, whether it be history, politics or anything else.
